Great new GM LS3 V8 throttle body and ECU kit……………from Omex Technology.
It’s an easy-to-install kit that converts the LS3 (430bhp variant ONLY) to a cable-operated throttle control and pre-mapped user-programmable ECU that is both IVA and MoT emissions compliant.
The package includes throttle body, throttle position sensor, air temperature sensor, idle air bypass valve (road kit ONLY), Omex 710 ECU and ready-built wiring harness.
Omex’s range-topping ECU, the 710, controls the fuel injection, standard ignition coils and, optionally, many other functions around the vehicle. The ECU is suitable for both normally-aspirated and boosted engines and is fully-configurable by the user with the Windows-based MAP3000 software package. The 710 is suited to all applications featuring advanced road-car controls such as internal compensation for barometric air pressure for vehicles used at varying altitudes, and racecar controls such as launch control and datalogging.
The road-kit is supplied with lambda sensors, which give the ECU information on the exhaust emissions, allowing it to constantly trim the fuelling to optimum levels and when suitable catalytic convertors are used, Omex say that a standard engine with this kit fitted will pass UK IVA and MoT emissions tests with ease.
It can be supplied with a calibration for a standard engine and also for the popular aftermarket Edelbrock E-Force supercharger unit, and modified engines will require mapping on an engine dyno or rolling road.
Only other things you’ll need are a fuel pressure regulator, which Omex can supply, if required, while a MAP sensor will also be needed if you’re running a supercharged or turbocharged LS3, to give the ECU a reading of boost pressure.
